Brand theme and advertising campaign

Defaqto enables people, through analytic data comparison, to make better financial decisions. It felt that its existing B2C brand offer was lacking in both personality and adherence to core values. A successful pitch from Red Door presented a different way forward for Defaqto.

Creating a personality with stand-out

At the heart of our proposition was the development of ‘Boffins’ – illustrated character representations who do their upmost to investigate data – adding recognition of the brand whilst adhering to values and personality.
To make the characters manageable, we created style sheets that enabled illustrations to be split – creating a mix & match facility to add graphic input whilst staying consistent.

Star Ratings campaign

Following the creation of the brand direction, we were tasked with promoting and developing Defaqto’s Star Ratings – awards that show the level of cover or benefits provided by a financial product at a glance. We took these star-based awards and turned them into constellations to both add recognition to the awards and to interact with the characters within a multi-media campaign including explanatory video, website, print ads and taxi sides in strategic areas.
