24 years of humble pie 750 646 Red Door

When Red Door first opened our… erm …door, we had dreams of creating great creative solutions for state-of-the-art applications such as brochures, posters and letterheads.
Twenty four years later we still have the same outlook, though the applications have evolved into interesting digital directions.
But what sustained us over these 24 years?

A regular slice of humble pie.

It’s easy for creatives to get carried away with what they’re doing, to look back on success. The bumper book of creative agency history has some truly great names that have bitten the dust – some were unlucky, some were pretty inept, but many good agencies started to believe their own hype and refused to evolve – complacently living ‘in the now’ rather than looking to the future.

Humble pie gives you the ability to be only as good as the last project you did. It also presents you with the chance to laugh at yourself and your peers as you wait for pitches, each company represented dressed in de-rigueur black suits and black shirts – demonstrating to financial clients that we are ‘different’. Humble pie also gifts excellent hearing – its ability to make you listen to what a client actually wants rather than what you think they want is uncanny.

So, with our appetite for longevity and creativity, we’ll continue taking a slice, covered generously in elbow grease and washed down with a tall glass of clear blue thinking.  Yum.

PS.
We’re not too humble to announce that we’re delighted to be finalists (again) in this year’s Investment Week and Innovation Marketing Awards. Pride and humility – it’s a good mix and it works for us.
